UNION DUES OVERVIEW

 

IATSE Local 118 members pay dues which are used to fund the day-to-day operations of the Union and to provide the ability for the Local to represent members in the workplace. Member pay dues in two forms; Minimum dues and Working dues.

Minimum dues are charged to all members quarterly regardless if a member is working in the jurisdiction or not. Minimum dues are used to cover items such as a member's per capita obligations to the international, district, and local labor bodies as well as fund some of the operations of the Union office.

Working dues are only asses to members for work done under the jurisdiction of IATSE local 118 so members who work more are therefore contributing more to the operations of the Local. Workers who are not members of IATSE Local 118 are also charged working dues but are not charged minimum dues by IATSE Local 118. you can find information on how IATSE local 118 dues work below. 

 

Dues for "A" Members (Stage Work)

 

Full members shall pay minimum dues of four hundred dollars ($400.00) per year.

Minimum dues shall be payable in four (4) installments:

a. $100.00 by January 1st 

b. $100.00 by April 1st 

c. $100.00 by July 1st 

d. $100.00 by October 1st 

Members who pay their full year’s minimum dues prior to December 1st of the previous year shall be entitled to a five percent (5%) discount.

In addition to the minimum dues, all members shall pay dues of three percent (3%) of gross earnings from work under the terms of Local 118 Collective Bargaining Agreements except for member working under an I.A. Travelling Employee’s Contract (Pink Contracts) Members working under the Travelling Contract shall only pay one percent (1%) of the applicable minimum road salary.

 

Dues for "B" Members (FOH/Box Office/Special Dept.)

All “B” members shall not be required to pay any Minimum dues and shall only pay working dues of three percent (3%) of gross earnings from work under the Local Union’s jurisdiction. B Members shall only be entitled to maintain membership in IATSE Local 118 while in the Employ of an employer with a FOH agreement with the Union.

 

Dues for Members of other Locals of the Alliance (Sister Local Status) 

 

Members of other Local Unions of the Alliance working in the jurisdiction of Local 118, shall pay three percent (3%) of gross earnings from work under the terms of a Local 118  Collective Bargaining Agreements, but they shall not be required to pay minimum dues to Local 118. 

 

Dues for Overhire workers of Local 118 (Permittees)

 

Any other person whos is not a member of Local 118 or another local of the International Alliance employed in the jurisdiction of Local 118  shall pay five percent (5%) of gross earnings from work under the terms of Local 118 Collective Bargaining Agreement as dues, but they shall not be required to pay minimum dues to Local 118.
